Yolanda was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Manhattan and Queens. She graduated from St. John’s University and worked as a hospital pharmacist before getting married. While a stay-at-home mom, she coordinated a children’s group at church. After re-entering the work force, she had a variety of interesting jobs, such as at a smorgasbord restaurant, selling clothing, luggage, and shoes. Her favorite job in more recent years has been substitute teaching at the middle and high school level.
Tom was born and raised in Forest Hills, New York. He studied mechanical engineering and graduated from New York University. After twenty-six years in the nuclear power industry, he left his field after a company downsizing and sold food at a turnpike travel plaza. Next, school bus driving became his passion for the following nine years.
Yolanda and Tom have been married over forty years. They lived in Vermont and New Hampshire, and now reside in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They have two daughters, Karen and Michele, and identical twin grandsons, Benjamin and Jonathan.
